Hello, When going through zither music, I came across this letter with enclosed "Reminiscences About the Schwartzer Zither Company". This was sent to Joe Smiell who once took zither lessons from my father. Joe Smiell was a virtuoso musician, primarily accordion and clarinet, who also directed a band of 25 musicians. He was especially interested in ethnic music. liz

Re: Washburn Zither Company
Thank you for sharing! I own four Schwarzer zithers: one piano-back, one large ornate zither with a seashell decoration, one harp zither, and one very small and simple one that I found at a GoodWill for $15 and fixed up. I play the small one the most and these instruments were so finely made that they give my new German zither a run for its money in tone and finesse of the frets. This was a great read!
