Spring/String Cleaners

Post by Kennethpauls »

I've been looking online on the various string cleaners to delay a bit the inevitable changing of my open strings. Has anyone had any luck with a particular product? I've only tried "fast fret" which works okay, but would like to try something new/better.

Before practicing, I’ll typically wash my hands to remove any oil and dirt that may come into contact with the strings. This, along with wiping the strings off with a clean cloth after practicing are good habits to adopt. Cleaning the strings, however, is another matter and when it comes to products the majority of information seems to be opinion based. Fast Fret claims the active ingredient in their product is white mineral oil. Perhaps white mineral oil used sparingly will suffice?
