Stille Nacht, melody line only

One local beginner had the misfortune of beginning with a "method" which stressed playing open accompaniment strings and higher (especially fourth) positions on the griffbrett. This resulted in difficulty playing simple folk songs from sheet music.

The zither is an ergonomic wonder. perhaps I'm lazy, but I like to play with as little hand motion as possible.

The attachment is an arrangement of the melody line made especially for this student, with reasonable harmony, and as little left hand motion as possible.

oooops.....you'll have to "download" the attachment. The numbers below the melody line refer to "finger numbers", again starting with the left thumb as "1", etc.

Gruss Rudi!

What is the name of the method book which does what you describe? Might be helpful to folks to know what might *not* be advisable.

Thanks.

Just a word of caution, a heads up for beginners. The method would probably be great for accomplished players.

Darr is great for beginners, as well as others available free from this site.
