Thank you, Tom, for the link to a thread I had so far missed. I wholeheartedly agree with Dave, who wrote:

How can any meaningful progress be made by doing that? The zither is not a forgiving instrument. One must make the effort to try and practice each day, and learn to appreciate the small victories."

These days, mainly playing for myself and my dog, and occasionally for a friend, it is the small victories Dave alludes to, that keep me going. One of my current favourites is "Die Wasserlilien" which I have found here -> https://www.zither.us/files/sm0805.pdf. Like Dave's, my playlist also includes a few Freundorfer pieces, but I usually start off with a very easy piece to warm up my fingers.
