Re: Max Roller: Major, Minor, Seventh Chords (1881)

Thank you so much Heidi!
I have been looking for this for years! This is so helpful.
Someday I hope to find a similiar schematic for the fingerboard chords as well.

Re: Young zither players, tender fingers

PS. As always, Ken Bloom is right on. String tension is also very important and can damage the instrument. It is best to avoid very high tension such as Red label

Re: Young zither players, tender fingers

Hi all. Another thing to consider in playability is string height from the frets, or what luthiers call "action". Especially on older zithers, some (but not all) instruments slowly warp under years of high tension and the strings bow upward away from the frets. This requires an an increasi...

Jobst workshops

I wonder whether any fellow zitherists might have any information about how long the Jobst workshops were in operation in Graz. I have a number of antique zithers but my favorite is a small Jobst air resonance 21" (string length 15 1/4") which has an exceptional tone. This zither was proba...

I am aware of a CD from Kerry Christensen of hymns (which are very nice by the way) but I am interested in ...

Re: Chord chart for fingerboard

I can't see the markings too well, Rudi, but they look like the note for each position with its corresponding location on the staff. Rather a good idea for the beginning player.

Chord chart for fingerboard

Is anyone aware of a chord chart for the fingerboard (like those for guitar) that might be available on the net? I was looking for a good G7 chord. Thanks

Last of the Mohegans

For those of you who might have missed this blog. I link to an interesting bit of zither and Schwarzer history: http://www.fretboardjournal.com/blog/saddest-letter-ever-written Although I don't quite agree the zither was never "popular" (judging by surviving relics, I would put it right af...
