Re: Harmonics on the Free Strings
Andy, you are very welcome, and yes, despite it all looking very simple it certainly does take some practice. Here is a short film showing Wilfried Scharf playing the zither (and a short sequence of bell tones). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1xefGMYo4E Towards the end of the film, at about 9:34 m...

Re: Harmonics on the Free Strings
Andy, another name for Flageoletts is Bell tones, and they are explained in 'Modern Zither Method' by King Keyes which is archived here:

Re: Perfekta Zither/Anton Brauer
Congratulations on your newly refurbished Anton Bräuer Perfekta zither. I have found some information which may be of interest: General: https://www.zither-virtuose.de/anton-braeuer.html 1929 catalogue: See pages 12 and 14 for Model A and C, Kreuzsaitige Perfekta Zithern, 42 strings https://www.zith...

Re: Technical question
Thank you very much, Ken, for your opinion, which is greatly appreciated. Playing the piece all fretted sounds nicer, to my ears anyway, so this is what I am doing. Re fingering - I only ever use the little finger of my right hand (for playing contrabass strings), but am guessing that I've probably ...

Technical question
I am curious to learn how others would play the c/a combination I've circled in red (below). Would you use the second a string for the a, or would you play the a (with your thumb) on the d string? Can't make up my mind which is correct, but perhaps there are several ways?
