Re: Anyone in UK

Hi Mister Kevster, I think the problem is finding some one who can restore the zither in the UK. It would be better to send it to a specialist in Germany. I sent my perfekta zither to Horst Wunsche in Markneukirchen. They did a great job. ( there's a photo of it on the forum ) Alternately if you are...

Re: Intonation

Hallo quincemothman. First, english is not my first language, so... I have some difficulties to understand what You actually means. For me as a pipe-church -organ -maker intonation means something else. You can intonate the the sound of an organ-pipe but not a string. If I understand You right, you...

Re: Intonation

Hi Ken, thanks for the info. I'll keep my zithers all up to pitch from now on. I'm ok with the plain D, not being very tall I have relatively small hands so my fingers are fairly light as long as it's controlled and I don't pull the string sideways. Cheers.

Re: Intonation

Hi Ken, no, the action isn't too high I lowered it a while back by thinning down the wire. I use Lenzner strings with a plain D. I presume a set with a wound D is a slightly higher gauge? I do like the Lenzner strings with plain D as they feel lighter than some others I've tried. Actually, I've just...

Re: Intonation

Thanks Guys for your reply. How ever, this seems to be an on going problem. After several string changes its still the same though strangely it used to be so bad that I played my 38 string instead, but over a time it has improved on its own though still apparent. Now I temper the strings so that the...

Intonation

Hi, I wonder if any one has had a problem with string intonation on the fret board especially with the D string. I have a wunsche 42 string harp zither ( Soloist ) and the D is sounding sharp so I have to flatten it slightly. Unfortunately this makes problems as it throws off harmony with the other ...

Anton Brauer

For those of you who might be interested I had my Anton Brauer Perfekta zither restored a few months ago by those nice guys at Horst Wunsche. They did a great job. One thing that puzzled me though, and that is its age. I noticed on Christoph Schwarzer's web site an article on Anton Brauer. I thought...

Re: Perfekta Zither/Anton Brauer

Hi Evelyn, thank you very much for the info. Funny enough I also play in a ceilidh band playing backup guitar. My other instruments are Harp guitar, electric chord zither and tenor banjo. I also sing. The chord zither is quite old, around 1910 which I had repaired years ago and then fitted four pick...

Re: Perfekta Zither/Anton Brauer

Hi Ken, sorry for the delay I couldn't send a reply strait away because of a computer glich. I'm starting to think that this Perfekta zither may be a bit special as there are not too many around and not all in great condition it seems. This one was perfectly strait with no warping or cracks. I wonde...
