Yes, it certainly is a small World. I now understand that a message stays in the Outbox until it is read.

Re: Looking for input/advice on Karl Kiendl zither

I sent a private message response. Not sure if it was sent as it sits in "outbox"? Doesn't show that it was sent in the "sent box".

Re: Looking for input/advice on Karl Kiendl zither

Thank you for your response which answered my question. I found this that you wrote on May 8, “Any sound board/surface cracks, top or bottom? This might be a deal killer”. Three zithers were given to me by the widow of Joe Smiell. Because he was a well known accordionist here in the Bay Area who lov...

Looking for input/advice on Karl Kiendl zither

I kind of hope someone will tell me if this zither is a wall art. The top is warped and has cracks. The bottom has a slight bow, but no cracks. Otherwise it is looking solid, pins, etc. I can clean it up, but am not interested in major repair, like opening it up. IMG_1573.jpeg Happy to find a new ho...

Re: Fingerboard length

Rudi, Thank you for the leads and pointing me in a direction. The truth is that I have several zithers and am in the process of determining what one or which ones to keep. I have learned quite a lot on this website and find there is always more to learn.

Fingerboard length

Hello, I am starting up to learn the concert zither again. I have a couple of zithers and am not sure which one to use. They have different lengths of the fingerboard by about 3/4 to 1 inch. As I have short fingers, maybe I should use the shorter one? Not sure if that matters because the open string...

Washburn Zither Company

Hello, When going through zither music, I came across this letter with enclosed "Reminiscences About the Schwartzer Zither Company". This was sent to Joe Smiell who once took zither lessons from my father. Joe Smiell was a virtuoso musician, primarily accordion and clarinet, who also direc...

Re: Searching for Staad Staad

Hello,
I want to say that I have a box of old zither music, mostly from Bavaria. I looked quickly through it for Staad and it could still be there? It is a mess and someday I plan to sort it all out. Not sure how to start. Any direction to do this task would be helpful.
Thank you, liz
