Looking for input/advice on Karl Kiendl zither

I kind of hope someone will tell me if this zither is a wall art. The top is warped and has cracks. The bottom has a slight bow, but no cracks. Otherwise it is looking solid, pins, etc. I can clean it up, but am not interested in major repair, like opening it up.

Happy to find a new home for it. See photos:

This makes me sad,

A Kiendl zither will bring joy to its household for a long time, probably a century or more, if properly maintained. Has this waif has a hard life?

Please see my "Unkel Gorge" entries on this site, Meh .

Thank you for your response which answered my question. I found this that you wrote on May 8, “Any sound board/surface cracks, top or bottom? This might be a deal killer”.

Three zithers were given to me by the widow of Joe Smiell. Because he was a well known accordionist here in the Bay Area who loved the ethnic Bavarian music, folks would give him their instruments. He never said “no”. Some of them just sat there in a downstairs room. I had one of them restored by Ron Cook, an Anton Kiendl, which was the same maker as my father’s zither, so, I knew it would have a good tone. There were no cracks, bows and it was a newer instrument which had separated. . The third one is a, Hazlwanter alpine zither that looks pretty good only needs a good cleaning, I thinK. I’ll know better when I remove the strings. I’m pretty sure Joe did not get them in such terrible condition. I shall proceed.

Thanks again for the input, Elizabeth

I sent a private message response. Not sure if it was sent as it sits in "outbox"? Doesn't show that it was sent in the "sent box".
