I got this zither at an auction in Chambersburg.
Any guesses about what it is or not. I’m very new to this lol
Thanks

The shape/design of this zither is known as Salzburg type or style. Its size, the spiked feet, the square tuning pegs, and the fact that it has no Mechanik all suggest to me that the instrument probably dates from the mid to late 19th century. Unless you can find a label or a maker's mark or stamp somewhere inside the body it is impossible to say who built it. How long is the fretboard (that's the part with five strings on it) from end to end?

Btw, the label provides the name of the dealer and the address of his shop - not the name of the person who built this zither.
