I'm about ready to order my zither, and will add other articles that I need, like a zitherring, tuning peg, etc. What stumps me is the zitherring sizes: do I need to measure my thumb, and if so, how can I deduce the size? (Thanks Rudi for you last reply.)

Good question! Just exactly how does one determine zither ring size?

Measurement? Circumference of the thumb? Is there any correlation between ring size and measurement?

Trial and error?

Hi Folks,

I don’t believe there is a standard and suspect ring sizes may vary from vendor to vendor. I do offer zither rings practically at cost for those who find themselves in need of one. My approach for the past several years has been to ship a range of sizes to the zither player, giving them the opportunity to try several on in order to find the best fit. This system has worked out very well.
