Seen on www.ebay.de, in the category "zither" is what looks like a kind of pre-zither. account title title: 2xaltezither.
Four string griffbrett, with the frets "staggered", not in a straight line. Seven (eight?) accompaniment strings. To my recollection, it looks like the description of the "zither" that Al Mueller learned to play in in the Swiss/American village of New Glarus Wisconsin, circa 1915 - 1925.
This needs a good home in some museum.....if it is genuine. I will not bid.
