The elderly woman who sold us this lovely old zither said that it belonged to her GRANDFATHER, who died in 1953.
So, the strings are AT LEAST that old.
Some are broken.
It seems reasonable to replace them all, but I can't find a site that tells me what set I should order.
Would a set of autoharp strings work?
Is the attached picture clear enough?

Re: Who sells sets of zither strings?
I am a new kid on the block, so I may be speaking 'out of place'.
I am waiting on the delivery of my first zither, a 5 chord Valrosa.
I did get some stringing info from the seller:
I use piano wire for the melody strings, (0.014, 0.016, 0.018, 0.20, etc) available in a lot of music shops. For the thicker bass strings I buy them from Lenzner Strings, who are a German company but they're happy to post them to you. (Google Lenzner Strings, there are a LOT of options).
