National Musical String Company

Post by Dave »

With domestic zithers makers, string manufacturers and music publishers, the US was once fairly self-sufficient when it came to meeting the needs of its zither players. The attached photograph, shared by Sandy H., shows a concert zither string manufactured and packaged by the National Musical String Co., located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Founded in 1897, the company manufactured steel strings for a variety of instruments and was also known to have made harmonicas. The factory still stands and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on April 20, 1982.
