Ancient Zither Song Book - Der lustige Postilion

Post by Dave »

A reader of the web site, Jeff L., shared two pages from a seemingly ancient book of zither sheet music. The cover is a tuning chart for the zither. On the chart, erster, zweiter and dritter (first, second and third) refer to the right hand fingers and the accompaniment strings for which they are responsible. Seems to be a very old sketch - it appears the fretboard has only 4 strings. Also attached are lyrics to the song, "Der lustige Postilion". Jeff is hoping to have the lyrics translated to English. Posting it here for others to review.
