Windhofer Tanz

What songs are you playing now? Do you have a question or comment on playing techniques?

Windhofer Tanz

Post by Dave »

Hi Folks,

Attached is a selection that our group will be playing in October at Jane’s seminar. It’s a lively piece for two zithers and, where many pieces seem to fall short on the trio, this one delivers. There is a question as to the identity of Schorsch Windhofer. Can anyone shed some light on this? Enjoy the music!

"Schorsch" = Georg. His collected writings and biographical elements can be found here:
http://www.amazon.com/Georg-Windhofer-1 ... 3852681030
(note that I don't own the book and don't know anything else about him)
His grandson Peter Windhofer is referenced here:

Don't confuse him with another, unrelated Peter Windhofer (actor) who dominates a Google search ...

Thank you very much for the pointer to the book. I did purchase this and it took abut three weeks to arrive. I presented this to Jane Curtis on Saturday as a thank you gift for our most recent zither seminar in Springfield, VA. She expects many hours will be claimed by this pleasant distraction. :D
