BR Heimat

Do you have information regarding zither supplies, such as rings, strings, tables and sheet music? Are you looking for a reliable zither, or have one to sell?

BR Heimat

Post by Dave »

A zither friend in Germany provided the following message. Can anyone recommend additional zither music resources available on the Internet?

There is a new broadcast. On "BR Heimat" you can hear traditional Bavarian music. Zither-music of course included. Here is the link:

Here's the page providing the program calendar:

Well, it's not zither-specific, but I enjoy using TuneIn Radio for listening to radio from all over the place. It's sort of a one-stop-shop that collects streaming radio and internet-only streams from various stations. They have the radio station your friend sent over (BR Heimat), plus plenty of other "volksmusik" stations.

You can, theoretically, just go to the websites of most these stations and listen that way, but it's nice to have it all in one place. You can keep a list of favorites, check out recommendations, etc.

I was using it just last night, using their smartphone app (with my phone plugged into the kitchen radio!), to listen to Alpenradio Volksmusik, which based out of a small town in Bavaria. They did play a zither tune now and then, as I recall.

In fact, I just popped over to check and they're playing "Der Weg zum Herzen" by Egon Finazzer right now. Sounds like a zither/guitar duo.

Oh, and there's also Spotify.

It's not really a set "stream" that you listen to, but rather a whole passel of music tracks that you can play on-demand. For free.

Just checked and there is a "zither" playlist that someone set up. Listening to it now... Nearly seven hours of music! :D

EDITED TO ADD: Just did a search on Spotify for "Rudi Knabl" and hit the motherlode! There's like a dozen of his albums on there. Don't know why I didn't think of looking on here for zither music before!
