Broken f (#3) accompaniment workaround

Post by Dave »

Thank you to John Roeder for sharing this repair tip. For those in need of an emergency replacement for a broken f (#3) accompaniment string, the following workaround may prove useful.
My Begleit f- #3 red string broke. As an emergency replacement, I installed an all-nylon classical guitar string sold as an "E 1, 028" / 0.71 mm." The brand I found is "Albert Augustine Ltd., Classic Red , Medium Tension." The string is clear in color; but I marked it with a red, indelible, felt marker, where my fingers do not touch it. It tuned to f very easily at the Harfen Zither scale length, with a nice, loud, Klang.
