Well... 5 months into this....
Its my best! So far.
It is a terribly hard instrument to play.
I know what it is supposed to sound like....its just the frustrations of making it happen.
Maybe one day!

Here are a few scales I have learnt with a few additives of mine.

Hi Pete - I'm struggling with #16 myself.

Something I notice from your overhead-camera video angle: your left thumb is
held away from the strings. Take a look at some other zitherists - they keep the left hand thumb very close to, or even directly over, the A strings. That way they don't have to twist their hand to play thumb notes.

Also seems the Kerschbams' zithers are more angled to the body; the lower right corner is pointing more toward their stomach area.

What zither are you using now? Framus? Meinel? (and what happened to that sad, sad Schuster?)

Hi Tom.
Thanks for your good advice.
Yes....I do try to keep my left thumb over the strings.
It always naturally wants to hide and get away . Sometimes in the vid you will see me suddenly relocate it to where it should be.
I must try to keep it over the A strings.
Funny you mention the Schuster.
I dug it out yesterday , took some pics and posted them to this forum.
I posted them under ARE THESE ZITHERS ANY GOOD?
It is only fit for the dustbin.
I play the Framus now as the strings for the Meinel have not arrived yet.
