Pete, you are off to a start. At this point, repetition is the key. A metronome might prove valuable, set slowly at first, then increasing the pace. It might help measure and quantify your progress, and enable you to set goals before moving on to the next lesson or scale.

Thanks for the post. Alle Anfang sind schwer...all beginnings are difficult. And thanks for the title; that will help other beginners find it.
