Mercer Musuem in Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Post by Dave »

Hi Folks,

I’m attaching a few photos from a recent visit to the Mercer Museum in Doylestown. PA. Dr. Mercer’s primary interest was in the preservation of pre-industrial artifacts and the museum was constructed to showcase his collection. He also operated a tile factory in Doyslestown as well, located just a short walk from his home. One photo shows the instruments on display on the museum's fifth floor. The other photo provides the museum’s description for them. If anyone has an interest in reading more, Dr. Mercer’s paper regarding these zithers has been digitized and is available for download on the web site. Visit http://www.zither.us/zithers.pennsylvania.germans for more info.
