Zither-Club Harmonie Program

I have several early zither programs which I will start posting. This particular program announces a zither concert by the Zither-Club Harmonie in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens, New York. The concert, held on April 25, 1920, was conducted by M. Veith. Song listing: Heimats Gruss Marsche, Jos....

Re: Replacement Strings

Thanks Don. I've ordered strings from Anne and Schneider Musik and would recommend both. While visiting Bill Kolb's web site recently, I noticed that he is also offering Lenzner Soloklang concert zither strings.

Franz Schwarzer - Model 21

Re: Franz Schwarzer Table Zither Advertisement

Good point Rudy. There are certainly other options. The table I'm using now uses a metal frame for a base, to which the bottoms of the turned legs are attached (see photo). I can't recall another table that uses this type of bracing. It was made decades ago by a former member of the Baltimore Zither...

Unknown Baltimore Zitherist

Several years ago, zitherist Marie Skowronek came upon a very interesting photograph, tucked away in a book she had recently purchased. She provided the following account of its discovery: "I bought the book, about 1995, when Zion Church had a used book sale. Zion Church, in City Hall Plaza sti...

In the attached group photo, he is shown seated center with his zither with an unknown group in Johnstown, PA, circa 1930. Ludwig Sollinger was born in Hausham, Germany on Nov 11, 1896. In 1923 he immigrated to the Uni...
