Re: Windhofer Tanz
"Schorsch" = Georg. His collected writings and biographical elements can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Georg-Windhofer-1887-1964-Volkskultur-Volksmusik/dp/3852681030 (note that I don't own the book and don't know anything else about him) His grandson Peter Windhofer is referenced he...

Re: Hello
OK, just for the record (re: "West Coast Zitherers") My name is Joseph (not "Joe"!), and I am not from the West Coast, but from Lower Bavaria (Passau) - although California is my fiscal residence. But I am a member of the "Californian Zither Revival Quartet" - that's ri...

Thank you, Dave!
I should mention that pages 2 and 4 of diskantzither 2 are the same - page 4 is missing.

Re: Zither makers in Mittenwald
I have been there this past October. Go to the "Geigenbau Museum" (http://www.geigenbaumuseum-mittenwald.de) - it's easy to find; follow the signs (everybody in town knows it)! Just across the street from the entrance is a zither maker. Sadly, I forgot his name. But if you ask at the museu...

Another option is http://www.saitenbedarf.de
I did order from SchneiderMusik.de in the past and was happy with the outcome. I don't have experience with saitenbedarf.de yet.

Re: Zither in Film
Here is my contribution: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/7212744/Sissi_Der_Film_part_5 (fast forward to 7:10 !) Sissi was a daughter of Duke Maximilian Joseph of Bavaria (see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Maximilian_Joseph_in_Bavaria ) who allegedly made several of his ten children play the zit...

Re: receiving my zither tomorrow
Welcome, Kiem, to the CA zither player community (all four of us, so far!). I live in Pismo Beach (when I'm not in France or Bavaria), and come regularly enough up to the Bay Area to visit with kids and grandson. There will be opportunities to meet, next year! Your welcome to contact me at velocio1@...
