Re: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Tonight I started thumbing through my great grandfathers music books looking for Christmas music and found some in the last book in the stack. Unfortunately, it is also the book that is quite literally crumbling to pieces. So given the condition and age, I decided to start moving the scores into Mus...

I really like this idea. May have to start keeping a journal of practice time / pieces.

Re: Viele grusse aus Seattle!

Hello Rita, and welcome back! I've been at the 'teach yourself' game for about a year and a half now and am still at it. Its possible, it's just slow! I've spent a lot of time reading (and re-reading) posts on this forum and watching (and re-watching... you get the idea) videos of other players, try...

Re: Listening recommendations?

Thanks for sharing Evelyn. I'm amazed watching Cornelias left hand; that is some complicated finger work.

Re: Practice Video - Volkstümliche Zitherschule p31 - Der erste Tanz

So I’ve spent the morning practicing, trying to incorporate finger feedback and I think I’ve hit on something. It’s going to take a bit of getting used to but you’re all correct there’s no arguing that. The shift in my hand position to free up the little finger definitely gives a better angle of att...

Re: Practice Video - Volkstümliche Zitherschule p31 - Der erste Tanz

Thank you all for the fantastic feedback. This is a hurdle no doubt. I struggle with the little finger because the middle knuckle locks and pops as I move it. My brother suggested some weird bands to help stretch the tendon. I hadn’t thought to elevate my elbow more. Perhaps I should be sitting a li...

Practice Video - Volkstümliche Zitherschule p31 - Der erste Tanz

Afternoon everyone! Putting the wraps on the first staccato lesson in the Volkstümliche series. Still working on freeing up the little finger on my right hand. It has forced me to re-evaluate how I’ve got my hand position, but I feel like its helping. Feedback is always greatly appreciated, I couldn...

Re: Harmonics on the Free Strings

Success! The hardest part of doing this on the accompaniment strings is not having a fret to guide you. But the halfway point of the accompaniment is about fret 12, I had been off center! What a beautiful, almost haunting sound that makes. https://youtu.be/trzWP8q1pV4 Evelyn, I wish I understood wha...

Re: Harmonics on the Free Strings

Thank you both! This is great information, and seeing a video of someone performing Bell Tones is amazing. Like everything, this is gonna take some practice.
