Searching for Staad Staad

Hello everyone, Hope your holidays are off to a good start. I’m a bit late to the Christmas music this year. Was wondering if anyone here might have, or could point me towards, the sheet music for Staad Staad. The rendition I have from the Volkstümliche Series is a bit basic, and I was wondering if ...

Re: Alpine Music

This is amazing, thank you for sharing Rudy!
I've been listening mostly to deutscher Rundfunk for the past few years, going to add this to my rotation.

Practice Video - Wake me up when September ends

Hallo Everyone, I've been working on bringing this piece up to speed since I stumbled on Magdalena Pedarnig's website. She's been making Zither arrangements of popular songs and selling them on her site (https://www.magdalenapedarnig.com) - A lot of her pieces are very approachable and fun to play. ...

Re: Fingering Question

Ohh, I have not but I'll see if I can find it. I'm itching for some new music. I've started working through "In der Dorfschränke" and "Haushammer", which I do believe I have you to thank for - found them here on the site. Also figured "Ich bin ein Kind vom Rhein" would ...

Fingering Question

Hey all, Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. I’m trying to slowly work through a song, and have gotten stuck on the first page. The song is „Ich bin ein Kind vom Rhein“, it’s originally written for Vienna tuning, which might by why this is awkward. Figured the song is easier in position 3 ...

Re: The ever reccuring string material advice question

Hallo Sabsi, Bergfee reds are steel, greens are nylon and blues are nylon with a steel core. It’s not unusual for a zither to have steel strings, but it is harder on the fingers, and puts more tension on the instrument. The steel is also necessary if you wish to use a magnetic pickup (reds or blue l...

Re: Tuning difficulties...

Hey Graham, I use the same same strings, and a very similar tuner (Korg-CA2) and never have any troubles with the Bass strings. I start to have difficulties once I get deeper into the Contrabass, but it never just stops picking up the tone. Also I wouldn’t describe any of the strings as slack. The c...

Re: My first zither!

Hello from Manor, Now thats definitely different than what you usually see here on these forums. Seen a few videos floating around YouTube of that type of zither being played, its very pretty. Please post pictures as you restore it, definitely interested in seeing how that polishes up. Also, welcome...

Re: New member, new post

Hello Sabsi, I went to Terra Nova Violins (7795 Burnet Road) here in Austin when I was looking to have my Great Grandfathers Zither cleaned up and looked over. They did a nice job, repaired the fretboard coming up at the inner edge, cleaned up all the mechanics, tuning pegs, and gave it a nice polis...
