Re: Tell me your "my first zither" story!
Jubal- I hear you on that! I don't have friends or family in Europe, didn't inherit anything, no zither friends or family here, and the ebay sales were just like you described. So I spent six months reading various music forums, including zither.us, to get a general idea. One thing I decided on earl...

Re: Introducing Myself
Hi Jeff - welcome to *the* zither place! I felt the same about the instrument, first when I heard it in The Third Man back a zillion years ago. Then during trips to Switzerland, Austria, Germany. Sadly I'm still a beginner. I need patience! Just to whet the appetite a bit more ... https://youtu.be/u...

Re: A Zither melody conquers the world
Dave - thanks for the news. Speaking of conquering the world, every single person who has seen my zither says "what is that?". Then I show them an Anton Karas video (YouTube) and they immediately remember. (I don't dare just play my own zither for them, as they'd *still* say "what is ...

Re: Young zither players, tender fingers
Back in the Dark Ages when I was a cellist, I learned that some musicians used "artificial callus" to temporarily toughen their fingertips. Several I just found via Google: https://quikcallus.com/ http://rock-tips.com/ You can also use a light coat of formaldehyde, but that may not appeal ...

Re: 2 CDs from Kerschbam Zithermusi
Don - that's the problem. There are no links or tabs at the top of either of those pages.
Weird.

Re: 2 CDs from Kerschbam Zithermusi
Don - for some reason that Kerschbaum page gives me only two choices - the homepage of each group. Can't find any links to anything else ... except this, which I think is hysterically funny:

Re: Gutmann Zither-Schule
Snow? Here in northeast Connecticut we got about 3 feet on Tuesday, with 5 foot drifts. Not fun! As always, I get my 200 foot driveway cleared, and the DOT truck pushes another mound onto the threshold as it races by. I've attached a photo of my snowplow stopped in its tracks. oy My zither progress ...

Re: Gutmann Zither-Schule
Hi Don - I used NotenBuch.de as recommended. I paid using PayPal, which does the currency conversion so you know the USD cost immediately. By the way, there are some overseas vendors who charge an arm and a leg for shipping; one would charge 35 euros  for shipping a 5 euro 30 page car manual ...

Re: Gutmann Zither-Schule
Thanks Gentlemen. I've ordered the Hintermeyer Bk 1, and the Schneider Bk 1. Total shipping for both was only 7 euro.
The dollar/euro exchange seems very good these days!

Re: Gutmann Zither-Schule
Hi Ken - thanks for the recommendation. I did find several "Band 2" (volume 2) of the Hintermeyer available for purchase in Europe. The only Volume 1 I found, shows postage as unusually high ($55 to send a 5 euro book to USA!) I think Volume 1 would be the one I'd find most useful, if it h...
