Re: A Zither Without A Name
Thanks for the message. You may be right about the age- Sasha seemed to think that was from about that time too. Interesting point about the strings: Sasha put Lenzner Fisoma strings on this one- I've never tried that style before. On my Glier concert zither I just switched to Lenzner Soloklang and ...

A Zither Without A Name
Here's an Arion Zither I bought on eBay.de that Sasha has properly repaired/ restored for me. He says it has a 'sweet sound' so I am happy I did not purchase a lemon. You never know when you purchase sight-unseen/unplayed. Impatiently waiting for him to send it to me once repairs are complete. The q...

Re: The Portable Zither Stand
I saw that; impressive. And I see youtube videos of other players standing, with the stand tilted slightly away from them (for the audiences benefit, I assume?).

Good Vibrations
Joseph had mentioned to me in an email his discovery of playing the zither on top of a closed grand/baby-grand piano. The sound amplification, especially of deep bass tones, from the hollow wood center is quite wonderful. I found, at the local college, one of the music rooms has a baby grand; it jus...

Zither Backpack
I'd love to know what other cases zitherists are using. In the meantime, here's a "zitherbackpack" that Altieri Instrument Bags out of Colorado made for me. I've been taking it on my scooter around town to check it out and it seems pretty practical- although a belt strap would have been he...

Re: The left thumbnail/suffering for our music
And so I bought some different finger guards from Amazon, a few presented here. Mostly they were the finger portion of rubber gloves, so it was impossible to do glissade or any sliding movement. One set looked like hamster condoms that roll on; not helpful. I'm sticking with putting on a few layers ...

Re: Electronic tuners
its not cheap (but I'm assuming it's worth the cost?). Do you use the pickup mic accessory with it?
