I don't know details (yet), but I have seen a zither in Bavaria with six griffbrett strings which was presented as a "Rudi Knabl Zither." Here is another picture of a not so old Sandner model with "Griffbrett nach Rudi Knabl": http://www.carsten-weber-online.de/cgi-bin/weblog.php...

I should finally reply, even though I do not consider myself a Zitherer just yet (I have been playing for 18 months only). But I am definitely interested in connecting with any other West Coast Zither players. My location is in San Luis Obispo county, and I am traveling rather regularly to Los Angel...
