Re: Zither tables?

Hi Pete, I do sit with my legs under the table. Cutting out a place in the apron so this can happen is certainly fine. You do what you can to be as comfortable as possible. Playing the zither is challenging enough. I like to have my zither at a height that permits my arms to be relatively level and...

Re: Zither tables?

Hi Pete - I don't use a table, but ... if your knees are not under the table, you'd have to be reaching straight out with your arms just to play the instrument. Many folk zitherists just rested the instrument on their laps, which gives you an idea of body/instrument placement. I'd still recommend n...

Rudi.
My daughter has informed me that " Im Heimgarten " Band 1 ist unterwegs !
I am so excited as i simply love the old German folk tunes.
May i ask you dear Sir if you would post some renditions of your playing?

Re: Beginner Video - Tom M.

Hi Tom . It's me, Pete, again. Two, what might be important points to observe. Having watched some videos of Zither playing , i have noticed that the Zither is placed at quite an angle so that the left hand side of it is further away than the right side. This is recommended in the tutor i am reading...

Re: Zither tables?

Hi folks. I have accomplished the first stage of playing the Zither. I have just bought a nice old cedar wood hall table which is 30" high 36" long and 18" wide. I liked Rudi's table with the turned legs so went for that design. The top is cedar and 3/4" thick. Now i dont want t...

Re: Beginner Video - Tom M.

Hi Tom. I can only speak as a musician here and not a Zitherist. Music is played very much and should always be played with feeling. Before i can get to that stage i will learn one bar at a time until i grasp it completely and remember the tune. ( the melody ). To do that then first off i must study...

Re: Beginner Video - Tom M.

Hey Tom, that sounds pretty good to me. I am not a Zitherist....YET.... But I am a musician of sorts. The Zither i know , is not an easy instrument to play and there is only one other instrument that i have learnt that is simply mind boggelingly very hard, that of the pedal steel guitar ( E9 ) I put...

Re: Introverts????

Hi Tom, There is a lot in what you write. I sometimes also feel that i am simply writing too much already, am a newbie to Zither and other forum members may feel that my opinions and feedback is unquallified until i have served time! I have found a similar approach from members of a model railway fo...
