Re: Question about Trills
For the one you mentioned in your sheets, Andy, I wouldn't play in the 1st Lage (1st position). I'd go to the 3rd Lage (3rd position). With your 3rd Lage, you'd have your 3rd finger (middle finger) for playing the note above. Lagenspiel is not a requirement for playing trills. The one has nothing t...

Re: Johann Jobst Zithers
Johann Jobst born 22 Dec 1848 in Vienna died 21 May 1924 in Graz He travelled extensively as a zither player and later established himself as a maker of zithers. He invented the Luftresonanz Zither, which characteristically has an additional soundhole (usually to the left of the bridge), thus differ...

Re: The Circle of Fifths
Oh dear ... this occasionally happens to me as well. I now always copy my text, and if it disappears when sending all you have to do is paste it in again. Another option would be to compose in Word or Notepad etc and then copy/paste.

Re: The Circle of Fifths
Hi Wilhelm May I ask which type of zither music you are playing - traditional alpine Volksmusik, classical, modern or ...? Do you prefer the Munich School (or method), the Wiener School, or R Grünwald's? How long have you been playing? Did I read somewhere that you have or had a teacher? Ah, yes, ju...

Re: Unknown Zither
The shape/design of this zither is known as Salzburg type or style. Unless you can find a label or a maker's mark or stamp s...

Hello Rudi and Ken This is a flying visit as it were, just to say that it is good to hear from other group members. As a zither player in the UK, I have always been on my ownsome. Concerning parties and gatherings, I am not a very social animal, so am not missing either. Living in a rural area, it i...
