Re: Unknown harp zither and introduction from Hungary.

Hey thanks for the stories, and welcome to the zither group. I am not a luthier and hopefully another member can comment on how much will be necessary / what the costs are involved- for restoring this instrument…. but, it’s pretty awesome looking! And really original design. If you do decide to purc...

Re: Franz Schwarzer Perfecta Zither - Style A

Re: Newbie post

Congratulations Steve, that is a pretty instrument you’ve revitalized. I like the Daar Method, it’s been tried and true for over a century. I can only say that paying attention to proper finger positions and posture of both hands while playing is oh so important- it’s never easy to change back later...

Re: Zither for sale

I’m thinking $750. I’d already put $225 into the new case, and $500 in it’s original repairs by Sasha. My feeling, however anthropomorphizing, is that an instrument needs to be played; so I would hope that someone would use it often which honors all the previous owners.

Re: Source for strings in US

Cleaning the soundbox sounds like a great idea; I never thought of it- all that accumulated dust.. I happen to get a lot of pleasure removing all the strings and then polishing/conditioning the wood, and then chrome polish on the metal plate covering the mechanics before restringing the whole instru...
