Karas for zitherists
So I'd like to purchase Karas' Third man music (not just the main theme). Not some guitar or piano transcription. Or is that what zitherists use? Where the heck is this, lol! Are most zitherists just playing it by ear? I saw someone on youtube playing it and he said it was Alfons Schmidseder's trans...

Re: A. Kabatek Zither Method, translated by Maurice Jacobi
Thanks very much for posting all of these methods. Rudy, a personal thanks. It's greatly appreciated. Perdentlosi is a musical term I've never been aquainted with in my years of being a musician!

Re: Finding a Playable Zither
I'm glad you're finding some inventory over there. I would reconsider the PayPal issue. It's a highly trusted manner of payment and it's the seller who will be paying a fee for its use, not you. (Don't forget Austrian eBay. That's where I found my zither.)
Best regards!

Re: Finding a Playable Zither
Hi and welcome Dr. H. I'm close to a newbie as well and it's a hard road if you don't speak German or live in a part of the country with immigrants from Germany/Austria. I fall into both those categories. Soon got disgusted with eBay's pitiful offerings and then opted for German/Austrian eBay via th...

Re: Slipping tuning peg
Update---I had great success using my own hair to plug up the hole. I have to thank Anne Prinz for this suggestion. It was easier for me to pull some hair out, rather than find paper and scissors, but I thank you Dave for those ideas as well. Wondering if steel wool would work here. I did that when ...

Slipping tuning peg
My 11th harp string (A) is slipping and not holding its pitch. I purchased all red strings recently and haven't even needed this string yet as I'm a beginner so I assume it's the tuning peg. How do I proceed to try and remedy this problem???

Re: Von Anfang an Band 1
The only English language books that are still available for purchase are the Darr method and Stessl. Please someone, corrrect me if I'm wrong!! if Von Anfang an Band were available in English I would imagine Anne Prinz would be carrying this version instead of the German. It's a slight volume, gear...

Von Anfang an Band 1
Hi, I'm another beginner with no teacher or knowledge of the German language. (There is someone a couple of hours away but my work schedule interferes with getting together.) I'm a classical pianist and have found the reversing of the staffs (left hand playing treble and right hand playing bass) the...
