Thanks for the replies. I was able to make strings from dulcimer wire, and retrofitted guitar and bass quitar strings by untwisting some of the winding from the strings.

Hi there. I had the same problem...no tuner! I did go to a clock maker looking for a key, and he offered to cut a piece of brass and modify a commonly available mining wrench. Thought I could do it myself with a tin can lid and steel epoxy...needless to say, I ended up making my own Zither with mode...

I am making a Zither that is about longer than a standard Zither. How long are standard concert Zither string sets? Are bass Zither string sets longer, or does that just refer to the "bass" strings on the Zither?
